Donate To The NAMTA Foundation
The NAMTA Foundation was incorporated in 2005 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. In June of 2005, the Foundation received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service, exempting the Foundation from federal income taxes and confirming that donations to the Foundation are wholly deductible under Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC). In addition, the Foundation is qualified to receive tax-deductible bequests, devises, transfers and gifts under Sections 2055, 2106 and/or 2522 of the IRC.
Donations are generated by the charitable contributions of foundations, corporations, nonprofit organizations and individuals from across the country. Donations, contributions, bequests, devises, transfers and gifts may be made to any or all of the following funds:
General Fund
The General Fund supports grants made to individuals, businesses and organizations for visual arts-related community projects, research regarding the impact of visual arts within society, art education for all stages of life, and administration of the Foundation. Foundation trustees are volunteers and receive no compensation for their services.
Disaster Relief Fund
The Disaster Relief Fund was established to provide financial aid to individuals, art-related businesses and organizations devastated by natural or manmade disasters. These grants are designed to help reestablish businesses and render aid to their employees. During recovery from Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the Foundation received $86,791.00 in cash donations, which provided financial aid to 28 individuals, 4 companies and the Gulf Coast Artists Residency Program in Mississippi. The Foundation does not use any disaster relief monies for overhead or administrative expenses – 100% of the monies received are awarded to those experiencing hardship.
Scholarship Fund
The NAMTA Foundation believes the enduring vitality of the creative and visual arts industry lies heavily upon the shoulders of today’s art students. For that reason, the Foundation awards eight $1,000 scholarships annually to help offset secondary education costs for students majoring in a visual arts-related field of study. These scholarships are used for tuition and/or books.
